II. Economic Policies for Achieving Development Goals

II. Economic Policies for Achieving Development Goals

MDG-enabling policies are those that are broad and macro in nature, affecting many or all sectors, and do not pertain to specific Goals but provide an overall enabling environment. WESS 2014/2015 will focus on these MDG-enabling policies which affect the overall economy and hence had influence on multiple MDGs.

WESS 2014/2015 will examine the impact of the global economic environment on the MDGs, including the consequences of the global financial crisis. The report will discuss the role of sustained, inclusive and equitable growth, as well as peace, stability and good governance in achieving the MDGs. The analysis is expected to validate such MDG lessons as the importance of country ownership and policy coherence. The analysis will be conducted mostly at the country level, though sub-national experiences will also be considered, as necessary.
